Our Story

Open Translator's Notes began in 1990 with a mission to make Bible translations and interpretations more accessible in languages where it wasn't yet available. Previous iterations of the Translator's Notes library were based on a copyrighted translation of the bible that did not make it possible to freely share these resources with translators. To enable greater accessibility, the work done in the initial series has been adapted to an open-source translation of the Bible with the help of AI. Translators from all corners of the globe can now tap into our Open Translator's Notes for their projects, free from the constraints of costly translation software.

Our aim is simple: to foster a global community where anyone can contribute to translating the Bible, making it available in more languages at a quicker pace. We've also made our notes and insights available to developers through our API, paving new paths for interactive and innovative ways to explore and teach the Bible around the world. At the heart of Open Translator's Notes is a vision for a future where the Bible is accessible in every native tongue. We're committed to providing translators with the tools they need to make this dream a reality, one translation at a time.
